A leading national distribution business in the professional skincare and personal care sector is seeking a seasoned Commercial Executive to take full accountability for its South African operations.

This is a high-impact leadership role reporting to the CEO and Board, responsible for driving sustainable growth, profitability and operational excellence across a multi-regional business.

The Opportunity

Based in Johannesburg (Edenvale), the General Manager will lead a business of approximately 45 employees across Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, including warehouse operations.

You will oversee and align the full commercial and operational engine of the business through a strong leadership team comprising:

• National Sales Manager

• Finance Manager

• Education Manager

• Marketing & eCommerce Manager

• Personal Assistant

The role requires strategic oversight combined with disciplined execution across sales, marketing, finance, pricing, supply chain and education.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the national growth strategy aligned to Board objectives

• Drive revenue growth and improve profitability across all channels

• Lead pricing strategy, trading terms and rebate structures

• Oversee budgeting and financial performance in partnership with Finance

• Present monthly and quarterly performance reviews to the Board

• Expand new market opportunities including aesthetic clinics, spas and hotel groups

• Lead product launches and ensure strong channel penetration

• Drive eCommerce performance and digital optimisation

• Ensure operational efficiencies across warehousing and distribution

• Maintain high standards of governance, compliance and health & safety

• Develop and empower a high-performing leadership team

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a commercially astute, hands-on leader with a strong track record in:

• Cosmetics

• Pharmaceutical

• Personal Care

• Professional beauty distribution

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field

• 10+ years’ experience in Sales and Distribution

• 7+ years in senior leadership

• Strong commercial acumen (pricing, shelf-life, consumer demand, manufacturing dynamics)

• Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams

• Comfortable operating at Board level

• Willingness to travel nationally

This role suits a confident, analytical and decisive executive who can balance strategic thinking with operational control.

This is an office-based role in Johannesburg with travel to Cape Town and Durban when required.
