General Manager - Packaging Industry

SUMMARY:
Our client a medium sized packaging concern specialising in corrugated is requiring the expertise of a hands-on General Manager. If you have experience managing a diverse team within a manufacturing environment in packaging, this will be an excellent career move for you!

REQUIREMENTS:

Matric & relevant tertiary education advantageous

5 - 10 years relevant management exp

Knowledge and experience packaging and manufacturing

Willing to be hands-on and involved in all aspects of the business

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Good business development skills

A self-driven, results orientated, highly motivated individual

Ability to maintain a good team spirit within a diverse multidisciplinary team

DUTIES:

Reporting to and working alongside the Owner of the company

Prepare operational plans aligned to the strategy and drive the implementation thereof

Overseeing production and the general administration department

Inspire, influence and motivate staff

Develop good working relationships with key customers

Ensure operational controls are in place and quality and service standards are continually improved

Keep abreast of technological developments that impact the industry

Oversee quality and pricing of raw materials sourced

Maintain objectives and ongoing operational goals

Ensure all employees are aligned to the shared purpose, vision, and company strategies

Ensure that the necessary occupational health & safety regulations are adhered to

Optimise the performance, productivity and development of people

Ensure that the administrative processes and controls are consistently, effectively and efficiently applied and adhered to

Ensure existing customer relationships are maintained, enhanced and maximized

Oversee maintenance, vehicle and forklift, manage costs to increase efficiency

Salary: R   dependent on experience
