A leading South African research and development organisation, in the minerals and metallurgy sector, is seeking an experienced and visionary Group Executive to lead their Extractive Metallurgy Cluster.

📌 Primary Purpose of the Role:

• Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Extractive Metallurgy Cluster.
• Ensure alignment of the cluster’s strategy with industry needs and trends.
• Maintain a balanced portfolio of RDI (Research, Development and Innovation) projects.
• Oversee sustainability across financial, human capital, safety, and delivery performance.
• Build and manage high-level stakeholder relationships and strategic partnerships.
• Maximise the impact of internal and external funding to achieve organisational goals.

• Leading cross-functional teams and fostering a collaborative culture.
• Driving business development and the commercialisation of RDI outputs.
• Ensuring operational excellence and financial sustainability.
• Managing risk, compliance, and governance frameworks.
• Monitoring performance and impact through robust systems and KPIs.
• Promoting transformation and succession planning.

• Master’s Degree in Extractive Metallurgy, Engineering, or a related scientific field. (PhD preferred.)
• 10+ years of experience in a research or knowledge-based organisation.
• At least 5 years in a senior research management role.
• Strong track record in commercialising research outputs.
• Industry knowledge in minerals, metallurgy, or related sectors.
• Experience with international and national business engagement.
