My client in the property space is looking for a highly qualified and well-seasoned Group Head of Legal to manage the legal strategy, risk, governance, and compliance requirements of the company. The successful incumbent will be responsible for regulatory reporting, providing legal advice and supporting the board. If this is you then apply now.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

You will be responsible for the following duties:

Strategy design and implementation
Developing the organisational legal strategy by understanding the business strategy, identifying the legal requirements to support implementation and achievement of the business strategy using established method for approval annually and as required.
Developing the operations plan by understanding the strategy, developing the plan including all projects and key performance measures and submit plans for approval annually and as required.
Drafting policies by reviewing the strategy environment, good practices, market environments, stock exchange rules and industry, developing policies that support the company’s business environment, communicating policies and facilitating implementation as required
Managing the company’s governance by understanding the legal and good requirements, analysing, and applying the required standards in line with the company’s environment, requirements, and approach, establishing and maintaining systems to track compliance, identifying areas of risk and implementing corrective action ass required
Maintaining overall legal compliance by understanding and interpreting legal compliance requirements, reviewing company’s compliance levels, identifying applicable compliance improvements and managing implementation of compliance programmes as required
Providing legal advice on the company’s contracts and agreements by reviewing draft agreements, understanding implications for the company, recommending amendments, and confirming minimising legal risk as required
Providing legal advice and opinions by understanding the issue, conducting legal research, developing opinions and providing advice as required
Managing stakeholder relationships by liaising with key internal and external stakeholders, providing input and feedback on legal and compliance actions, receiving feedback and contributions and collaborating as required

The ideal candidate has:

BA Law or LLB required
2-3 years commercial property finance experience preferred
5-7 years’ experience in a listed environment
5 years staff management
2 years strategic leadership participation required
