SUMMARY:
A leading tertiary institution is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join their team as an HR Manager.

POSITION INFO:

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient human resource generalist function that is aligned with departmental and company strategic goals and will be expected to successfully implement HR strategy and deliver customer service within the organization.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility Include:

Talent Acquisition:

  • Recruitment, selection and appointment
  • Investigation of alternate recruitment sources particularly for scarce
  • and critical skills
  • Development of an on-boarding program
  • Advises on compilation of Contracts of Employment
  • Managing EE and transformation

 

HR Information:

  • Management and monitoring of leave records
  • Ensures employee data is updated and maintained
  • Produces reports as required
  • Performs analyses, identifies trends and makes recommendations
  • to Management
  • Ensures statistics and returns are submitted as necessary

 

Employee Relations:

  • Advises Management and staff on disciplinary matters
  • Ensures compliance with relevant labour legislation
  • Advises Management on current labour legislation
  • Counsels employees as required

 

Succession Planning:

  • Identifies early talent and possible successors
  • Provides input into Critical/Key positions
  • Compiles annual plan and keeps it updated

 

Performance Management

  • Initiates the PM process, annually
  • Assists staff with compilation of KPA’s
  • Monitors process and alignment with Salary & Bonus Reviews
  • Provides training as required

 

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Advises on appropriate remuneration levels and packages
  • Monitors competitive market info and makes recommendations
  • Reviews benefit offerings and makes recommendations
  • Liaises with service providers, as required

 

Training & Development

  • Identifies staff training & development needs
  • Advises on staff further education
  • Ensures training needs are addressed
  • Administers Mentoring program for staff

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • The candidate must hold a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences ideally a BCom in Human Resources Management or Industrial Psychology

 

Experience:

  • 5+ years working experience in HR Manager or similar role.
  • Must have prior experience in a generalist function.
  • Proficient understanding of change management
  • Proficient understanding of the HR value chain
  • Basic understanding of the management consulting principles
  • Ideally HR Consulting and Business Partnering

Other Job-Related Information:

  • Travel and work outside of normal hours will be required for which, given the level of seniority of the post, no overtime payment will be made
