Main purpose
Design and correct implementation of Clients active network, cost effective, best in breed technology and required network architecture facilitating client requests, ensuring that the company’s strategic goals and business objectives are meet.
The role involves providing overall design (High and Low level) and correct implementation of active network equipment ensure all service requests are met via end to end network automation.
Working Conditions
• Mostly Office bound
• Required to attend client meetings
• Required to do regional visits
Competencies and Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge, qualifications and experience
• Grade 12
• National Diploma in Engineering or equivalent qualification
• 15 years’ experience in the telecoms industry
• In-depth Knowledge of Transmission Network
• In-depth Knowledge of Network NMS Systems.
• In-depth Knowledge of both optic fibre and wireless systems and its capabilities
• In-depth Knowledge of optical and wireless equipment
• Must have in-depth understanding of active networks and the various layers.
• Knowledge on Automation
• Knowledge on SDN and NFV
• In-depth understanding of:
• IGP
• BGP
• SR
• ISIS
• OSFP
• GPON
• Ethernet
• Packet
• Optical systems
• DWDM
• Working knowledge of service OAM

• Accountable for the design of the CLIENT National Active Network always ensuring a state of art and cost effective design
• Manage and approve network design changes.
• Train and upskill the build and provisioning Team
• Develop, monitor and continuously improve the network design, functionality and features
o Continues lab testing
o Ensure service comply to product rules
o Resource requirements
o Analyse network performance and advice on changes or upgrades required.
• Provide possible strategic solutions and innovations
• CLIENT’s short and long term strategies to always be considered when suggesting network design and procedural changes
• Develop High level and Low level Network documentation.

4. Product Management
• Ensure Products are fit for purpose
