A client of ours, a leading intelligence and data solutions business, is seeking a Head of Advanced Data Science to shape and execute its AI and machine learning strategy. POSITION INFO:

About the Role

• Lead the design and execution of strategic data science initiatives aligned to business objectives
• Prototype and deploy predictive and prescriptive models using rapid iteration methodologies
• Advance machine learning capabilities and narrow AI solutions
• Champion explainable AI and communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to executive stakeholders and clients
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Data, Software Development, BI, Product, Sales and IT
• Mentor and develop a high-performing data science team
• Foster a culture of ownership, innovation and continuous learning

Qualifications

• BCom/BSc (Honours), MCom/MSc or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Science
• Proven machine learning model-building experience

Experience

• 10+ years relevant analytical experience
• Minimum 3 years in ML/AI

Technical Expertise

• Advanced data analysis and insight development
• Strong statistical and machine learning capabilities
• Proficiency in Python, R and SQL
• Experience with TensorFlow, Hugging Face, FastAPI, Flask or Django advantageous
• Experience with Docker and predictive model deployment in Microsoft Azure or similar environments
• Familiarity with virtualised applications and programming environments
• Agile methodology experience
• Strong documentation and report-writing capability
