JOB SUMMARY:
A fully remote-working opportunity for a strategically-orientated finance professional to join a fast-growing Canadian Sports/Gaming/Entertainment company.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Finance & Regulatory will enable the maximization of enterprise value by supporting the swift execution of revenue opportunities, optimising fiscal transparency and reducing risk through regional compliance.

Responsibilities

Financial operations and control: ensure timely and accurate book keeping, related documentation and reporting; including but not limited to oversight of AR/AP, treasury, payroll and government filing.
Financial forecasting and analytics: drive financial modelling, budgeting, forecasts, and comparative analyses.
Licensing and insurance: support operations in multiple jurisdictions by obtaining and maintaining adequate licences, permits and municipal zoning requirements.
Intellectual property: protect the company through filing and oversight of IP and related marks.
Market intelligence: research regulatory and financial infrastructure requirements in new jurisdictions, and maintain awareness of related changes in existing territories of operation.
Government relations: identify opportunities for involvement with governing agencies to influence regulation.
Legal document control and compliance: draft, store and monitor assorted legal agreements; including but not limited to lease agreements, employment agreements, assorted certifications, vendor agreements, etc.
HR compliance: ensure that all staff are treated in accordance with local employment legislation.
Team leadership: lead internal and 3rd party support staff, as needed, to ensure effective delivery of all areas of responsibility.
Other operational support: assorted cross-functional tasks - enabling the business to drive growth with speed & agility.

Skills and Qualifications:

Business degree with focus in financial discipline; minimum 5 years related experience.
Innovative & strategic thinker; able to synthesize data & demands into results oriented business tactics
Experience building and managing a team or department within a start-up or entrepreneurial setting.
Robust background preparing business proposals, legal documents, &/or contract negotiation; experience in government relations &/or work within a regulated industry is a plus.
Track record of managing competing priorities with minimum supervision; exceeding expectations from projects that are typically less structured.
Strong communication skills; ability to speak and write effectively.
Strong leadership skills; high confidence and emotional EQ.
An analytical and methodical mindset; strong attention to detail.
High competence with computers and productivity software; experience with QuickBooks &/or relational databases is a plus.
