POSITION INFO:
A forward-thinking insurance organization based in Johannesburg North is seeking a high-caliber Head of Finance to take ownership of financial leadership at business-unit level. This is a rare opportunity to secure a Board seat, operate within a hybrid working model, and shape a finance function with real authority and autonomy, all within the strength of a larger corporate group.

As Head of Finance, you will be the senior financial voice of the business, responsible for strategy, performance, governance, and long-term financial sustainability. While supported by group frameworks, you will have the freedom to build, modernize, and elevate the finance function to world-class standards.

Your Strategic Impact:

Set and drive financial strategy, governance frameworks, and policy implementation
Lead financial performance through reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis
Deliver high-impact financial modelling, FP&A, and commercial insights to guide executive decisions
Ensure excellence in controls, compliance, risk management, and IFRS (including IFRS 17) alignment
Champion systems transformation, process automation, and operational efficiency
Oversee end-to-end financial operations, cost optimization, and payroll functions
Act as a trusted financial advisor to the Executive team and Board
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance, future-focused finance team

Executive Profile:

CA(SA)
12–15 years post-articles experience
A strong foundation in insurance is a must
Minimum 7 years’ experience leading and developing large finance teams
Proven track record in financial leadership, strategy, and building scalable finance functions
Strong IFRS expertise, with IFRS 17 experience essential
Commercially astute, with confidence and credibility to operate at Board and Executive level
A hands-on, commercially minded leader who thrives on building structure from complexity
