Head of Finance (Renewable Energy)

As Head of Finance, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the company's financial strategy and supporting its continued growth. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee the full finance function, including financial planning and analysis, reporting, treasury, credit, billing, leasing finance, and risk management. You will partner closely with executive leadership to drive commercial decision-making, strengthen governance, optimise financial performance, and lead a high-performing finance team in a fast-growing, technology-driven business.

POSITION INFO:
Responsibilities: Strategic Financial Leadership Partner with the CFO and Executive Committee to shape and execute the financial strategy. Provide commercial and financial insights to support strategic decision-making. Lead financial modelling and scenario analysis to support growth initiatives and funding strategy. Evaluate investment opportunities, expansion plans, partnerships, and potential acquisitions. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process. Develop long-term financial plans aligned to business objectives. Deliver accurate and insightful management reporting and board packs. Monitor and analyse key financial KPIs, identifying performance improvement opportunities. Financial Reporting & Compliance Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements. Oversee compliance with IFRS and all relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain strong internal controls, governance frameworks, and financial policies. Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies. Treasury & Capital Management Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital optimisation. Manage capital expenditure and funding structures. Engage with financial institutions and funders to support growth and liquidity requirements. Support capital raising and investor reporting processes. Credit & Risk Management Oversee the Credit team and ensure disciplined credit underwriting and portfolio management practices. Approve and review credit policies, credit scoring models, and risk frameworks. Monitor credit risk exposure, arrears, collections performance, and provisioning. Ensure effective credit governance aligned to the leasing and financing model. Drive improvements in collections strategy and bad debt management. Billing & Revenue Management Oversee the Billing team to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant invoicing across all customer segments. Ensure revenue recognition is accurate and aligned with applicable accounting standards. Drive improvements in billing systems, automation, and reconciliation processes. Monitor billing accuracy, revenue leakage, disputes, and customer account integrity. Leasing & Financing Oversight Oversee financial management of the leasing and financing arm. Monitor portfolio performance, funding efficiency, and profitability. Support financial product modelling and structuring. Ensure appropriate lease accounting treatment and performance tracking. Commercial & Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate with Operations, Sales, Technology, and Commercial teams to optimise margins and pricing strategy. Support data-driven decision-making through robust financial analytics. Drive cost efficiency and operational performance improvements. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance, credit, and billing function. Establish clear performance objectives, KPIs, and accountability structures. Drive continuous improvement, automation, and digital transformation within the finance ecosystem. Foster a culture of governance, accuracy, customer-centricity, and commercial awareness. Requirements CA(SA), CIMA, or equivalent tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Minimum 10 years' progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role. Proven experience leading Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial management. Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, governance, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. Experience managing treasury, cash flow, working capital, funding structures, and capital raising activities. Demonstrated experience overseeing credit, billing, collections, and risk management functions. Commercially astute with experience providing financial insights to support executive decision-making and business growth. Strong leadership experience managing and developing high-performing finance teams. Advanced financial modelling, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience within renewable energy, asset finance, leasing, fintech, or financial services will be highly advantageous. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at Executive and Board level. Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel; experience driving finance automation and digital transformation is advantageous.
