Lead Internal Audit at Executive Level

A well-established national organisation with a diverse portfolio of businesses is seeking an experienced Head of Internal Audit to lead its Internal Audit function from its Head Office.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a strategic and commercially minded CA(SA) to provide independent assurance over governance, risk management and internal controls across multiple operating entities. Reporting at Executive Level, with functional reporting to the Audit Committee, this role offers significant exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to influence business performance across a complex, decentralised environment.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a risk-based Internal Audit strategy and annual audit plan. Lead, mentor and manage a team of Internal Auditors and IT Auditors. Oversee financial, operational, compliance and IT audit engagements. Ensure effective governance, risk management and internal control processes across the business. Present findings and quarterly reports to the Audit Committee and Executive Management. Monitor and drive the resolution of audit findings. Oversee fraud investigations and ethics-related matters where required. Champion the use of data analytics, automation and AI to enhance audit effectiveness. Build strong relationships with executive stakeholders while maintaining audit independence. Minimum Requirements Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) Minimum 5 years' Internal Audit experience. Proven experience managing and developing audit teams. Previous exposure within manufacturing, distribution, trading, retail or a multi-entity environment. Experience engaging with Executive Management and Audit Committees. Technical Skills Strong IFRS knowledge. Financial reporting, governance and internal control expertise. Operational auditing and risk assessment experience. Sound understanding of IT General Controls (ITGCs) and technology risk. Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analytics skills.
