Head of Manufacturing

An exciting opportunity exists for a Head of Manufacturing for an aggressively growing business in the cosmetics (natural skincare) industry.  This role is based in Stellenbosch.

Manage the entire operations of site within the scope agreed by the management team. Responsible for the leadership of the end- to-end supply chain, including supply and production, demand forecasting, procurement, in-house manufacturing, fulfilment, logistics and distribution across all channels and for all product categories.

The role requires hands on approach with minimum resources and staff in start-up environment – someone who wants the challenge to roll up their sleeves and getting the job done, with minimum resources and people.

Responsibilities:

• Be overall responsible for operations including EHS (Environment, Health &Safety), production, quality, engineering, planning & logistics, fulfilment, warehousing, human resources, and supply finance
• Take responsibility and accountability for growing the business and meeting agreed targets, delivery of plant KPIs in Quality, Service and Cost
• Manage Sales Forecasting, Production Planning, Material Scheduling, Stock Management and Warehouse Capacity Management; ensuring Service Level, Warehouse Utilisation, Working Capital; and customer performance targets are achieved
• Lead and develop functional teams to achieve business goals
• Own site P&L and be fully responsible for achieving the financial target of the plant
• Organize production in accordance with the requirements of laws, regulations, and rules
• To liaise with distribution centers, marketing, and supply services to manage delivery, NPD, volume prioritization and quality concerns 
• To manage the workforce and approve the headcounts target of the site 
• Put forward proposals for site future development and strategy as part of site masterplan including new innovative solutions and digitalization of site operations. 
• Organize and formulate the company’s quality policy and quality objectives; regularly conduct management reviews and evaluate the operation of the quality management system; secure the human resources, infrastructure and working environment required by QMS.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree
• Minimum 10 ten years’ progressive experience in working in a fast paced FMCG manufacturing environment (i.e., Personal care, Beverages, Food, Cosmetic or Pharmaceutical)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing teams and people managers
• Experience with EHS and QMS (Quality management system)
• Previous experience in forecasting and/or production scheduling would be an advantage
• GMP/Cosmetic device manufacturing experience (desirable)
• Excel advanced and strong data analytics
