POSITION INFO:

Introduction

  • An international automotive company based in Sandton is looking for a Head of Marketing

Purpose of the Role

  • To provide strategic direction for the communication plan across new car sales, service, parts and car dealerships in SSA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the development of long term (3+ years) and short term (annual) marketing plans which translate the global brand vision and strategy into a local plan, using local customer insights and data, that will deliver the desired growth and business objectives.
  • Drive the evolution of the brand positioning, bringing it to life in a clear and consistent way that resonates with and motivates defined target audiences. Promote the company as an innovator to the press and consumers and oversee all external customer-facing communications across website and social channels.
  • Full understanding of the South African customer base, using quantitative as well as qualitative data and research studies to segment the market and use this information for product and communication strategy development.
  • Responsibility for the development of an integrated media plan using above the line media channels as well as below the line and digital strategies and KPI’s to achieve business and brand objectives.
  • Review and manage content marketing strategy, implementing the latest digital marketing strategies and analytical tools (SEA and SEO) to ensure competitive advantage.
  • Responsibility for the development and management of launch strategies to ensure the impactful and successful introduction of new products and corporate initiatives to the dealer network and the market.
  • Collaborate and lead across the organization. Represent the voice of the customer within the organisation, bringing customer insights to cross-functional stakeholders across Product Marketing, Sales and Executive leadership.
  • Lead the development and management of a fleet and government strategy to communicate topical  information to customers and the dealer network to instill brand loyalty and commitment.
  • The steering of advertising agencies and external service providers with respect to concept development, execution and performance measures.
  • Lead the management of the media investment for the brand in terms of governance and the steering of media agency and the optimisation of discount strategies across all media channels.
  • Steer the development and management of a dealer communications strategy to maximize dealer marketing spend and retail sales via the dealer channel. Evolve dealer communications from traditional marketing to digital marketing and provide dealers with access to the best available tools to achieve this.
  • Lead the development and management of the Service brand marketing strategy to increase customer retention and Parts and Accessories sales, particularly in segment 2 and 3.
  • Lead the development and management of the car dealers brand strategy and communications planning.
  • Lead and mentor a growing team of marketers across a broad set of functions. Manage and develop reporting staff by the setting of work related objectives, appraising performance and behaviour and where necessary, initiating / providing specialist training so as to maximise the potential of individuals within the section to maintain high levels of productivity and motivation.  Identify talent needs, hire and manage a high-performing integrated marketing team with particular focus on future digital needs.



Minimum experience & qualifications required

  • At least 10 years’ experience in brand management and communication strategies, especially product and customer relations.
  • Minimum of 8 years Management experience 
  • Previous experience working with and steering media and creative agencies/ service providers
  • Strong leadership and proven people management skills
  • Sound knowledge of brand models and brand image
  • Thorough understanding of marketing and advertising strategies and principles
  • Sound understanding of communication strategies and media principles
  • Sound knowledge of media landscape
  • In-depth understanding of the technological advances in contemporary Marketing, including Social Media
  • Ability to think strategically, plan and organise effectively
  • Well-developed negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills – written and oral
  • Creativity, innovation, action orientation, passion, initiative and resourcefulness
  • Ability to perform in pressured/ deadline-driven environment
  • Understanding of financial principles and budgetary control, including media budgets
