JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities:
  • Quality Control
    • Ensure quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards and testing material.
    • Establish quality standards by studying product and consumer requirements in collaboration with Management, Production, Technical and Engineering departments.
    • Provides technical leadership and expertise within the field of Quality Assurance and testing.
    • Monitor all quality assurance activities, test results, defects, root cause analysis and the identification of areas of continuous improvement.
    • Institute rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.
    • Create a product quality documentation system by ensuring updated Quality Assurance Policies, Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Ensure the proper usage of available tools and instruments to gain maximum benefit.
    • Escalate testing and Quality Assurance matters to responsible role players.
    • Maintain product quality by enforcing Quality Assurance Policies, Procedures, SOPs and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
    • Schedule and assign team members and follow up on test and work results to comply with Quality Assurance operational requirements.
    • Develop a Quality Assurance team.
    • Manage outputs of Quality Assurance team members by coaching, counselling and disciplining employees.
    • Prepare the Quality Assurance budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
    • Ensure effective Laboratory Management.
    • Ensure consistent quality of various products.
    • Create and maintain product specifications.
    • Resolve customer complaints.
    • Provide professional and knowledgeable technical assistance to, and liaise with customers.
  • Effluent Plant, Splitting Plant and Boilers
    • Ensure the provision of specified services at optimum cost and agreed on service levels.
    • Ensure the effective operation of the following:
      • Boilers
      • Soap Stock Splitting Plant
      • Effluent Treatment Plant
      • Cooling Towers
      • Fire Safety Installations
    • Ensure daily upkeep and maintenance of civil infrastructure.
  • Health and Safety
    • GMR 2.1 appointment and contact person for the Company.
    • Take responsibility for site security and access control.
    • Ensure the company is and stays compliant as per the OHS Act.
    • Research, implement and maintain a leading environmental policy that complies with the specified legislation.
Key Competencies:

Education and Skills
  • B Degree in Engineering with either GCC or with the required experience is essential
  • B Degree in Science, Chemistry/ Food Science, Product Management or related field
  • Certification in Quality Management/ Control and Internal Auditing
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quality Assurance position within an FMCG environment
  • A minimum of 2 years of laboratory and/or scientific research experience is essential
  • Proven knowledge of Food Safety and Quality Management systems (HACCP, ISO, FSSC)
  • Knowledge of methods and processes involved in manufacturing, quality and statistical techniques
  • Knowledge of edible oil processing will be an advantage
