POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • A Tertiary Qualification in Human Resources or related.
  • Minimum 7 Years’ relevant experience of which 3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Previous experience having concluded negotiations at a bargaining council is essential.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the South African labour environment and laws is essential.
  • Proficiency with HR software, MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint and other PC tools.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
  • A people-centred approach, complemented by strong administrative systems and procedures.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality for sensitive Human Resources issues or projects and use judgement and decision-making to execute duties and responsibilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License and own transport.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Formulating Human Resources policies, programs and practices, including planning, organising, implementing, coordinating and directing procedures for the HR function.
  • Managing the administration of incentives, as well as other employee benefits such as health, life and disability insurance, retirement funding, severance packages and educational assistance.
  • Formulating and integrating strategies for employee recruitment, retention and development programs and measuring the success of such initiatives.
  • Responsible for mitigating litigation risk by addressing employee disputes and grievances and ensuring fairness in the workplace.
  • Providing effective HR support to line management to support business plan achievement from a people perspective.
  • Improving the management and operation of the HR Function and enhancing workforce productivity through performance management and organisational design initiatives.
  • Compiling job descriptions in the standardised format, ensuring that job profiles are kept updated on personnel records.
  • Working with Line Managers to identify training and development needs and ensure that employees are enrolled on the relevant courses in order for them to have a greater impact in their respective roles and environment.
  • Sourcing, screening and selecting candidates to build a talent pool and fill job positions within the organisation.
  • Responsible for induction of new employees.
  • Conducting exit interviews.
  • Strategically involved with staff retention, employee wellness, succession planning, black economic empowerment and performance management.
  • Ensuring that career path development and succession planning is effectively implemented.
  • Implementing appropriate disciplinary and grievance procedures to promote co-operations and workplace harmony, consistency and fairness.
  • Assessing organisational skill gaps and designing and delivering development solutions.
  • BBBEE - Implementing and monitoring compliance to company BEE strategy and assuming responsibility for the company’s social responsibility projects.
  • Ensuring that the highest standards of labour relations practice are employed by the business.
  • Compiling HR reports and administration.
  • Managing company payroll administration.
  • Responsible for the accounting function related to the payroll due to the confidential nature of the information.
  • Conducting bi-annual salary benchmarking exercises and salary surveys to ensure that salaries are competitive and market related (also as a strategy to ensure staff retention especially of key people).
  • Compiling monthly management reports all on all key output areas of the position.
  • Managing the negotiation of employment offers.
  • Managing the company’s annual Salary Review process.
  • Managing the company performance management process.
  • Custodian of effective performance management practices.
  • Implementing performance management and talent management initiatives.
  • Ensuring that performance management is standardized.
  • Ensuring that all employees are informed of and trained in the application of the performance management model and system. Monitoring, evaluating and reporting results.
  • Leading programs that are aimed at improving employee morale.
  • Identifying and analysing current organisational effectiveness.
  • Initiating and implementing organisational surveys.
  • Developing, updating and implementing all HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that all employee and employment related laws, policies and procedures are implemented and fully complied with.
  • Responsible for the completion and submission of the EE policies and WSP annually, and monitoring such policies to ensure adherence thereto.
  • Driving HR related cost savings and manage HR budgets as set by executive management.
  • Promoting equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation advising on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits and undertake regular salary reviews.
