JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client a Global Tech firm is seeking a IT Infrastructure Project Manager to join their team in Sandton on a Contract basis. Our client offers great benefits, stability, growth and an attractive salary.

IT Infrastructure Project Managers are responsible for the delivery of IT projects that have a

significant impact on our retail organization

Requirements

Developing project plans

  • Develop a project plan in recognized project management software.
  • Ensure that the plan covers all facets of the project and organizationally represents the tasks that will need to be performed by the project team and external stakeholders to ensure that the project is successful

Managing project stakeholders

  • Engage at all levels of the organization in a professional manner.
  • Setup and manage project governing meetings at all levels of the project structure as well as across the broader organization.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders and project team members execute on their activities in terms of the project mandate.
  • Where appropriate escalate any potential non-performance to the appropriate management person.

Managing Communication

  • Have the ability to clearly communicate in a professional manner with all levels of management.
  • Articulate project documents in a professionally accepted business format.
  • Develop a change management plan and manage its implementation across the organization.

Managing the project team

  • Ensure that all project team members are aligned to the project vision and purpose.
  • Manage all project team members' daily activities and tasks.
  • Where appropriate ensure that the project is well staffed so that each area of the project is well managed and its goals are achievable.

Managing project risk

  • Develop and manage a risk matrix of all project risks.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders are aware if the risks and the status of the risk-mitigating activities

Managing project schedules

  • Ensure that the project remains on track through daily; weekly and monthly communication sessions with all stakeholders.
  • Adjust and flex the project plan according to project delivery and risk appetite factors.

Managing the project budget

  • Establish a project cost schedule that includes all third-party costs.
  • Arrange third-party project proposals that align with the project objectives.
  • Obtain third-party billing schedules that align with the project cost schedule, and manage third-party teams according to these billing schedules.
  • Ensure that the project costs are appropriately reconciled from actual to budget and forecast.
  • Report projects forecast at the IT Capex forum.

Managing conflict

  • Identify through discussion and project meetings as well as business engagement all potential project conflicts that may occur.
  • Discuss these conflicts with the IT Program Manager; IT Director and affected business leaders ensuring that they are resolved appropriately.

Managing the project delivery

  • Ensuring that the project is delivered on time; in budget and meets the business requirement.

Planning Horizon

  • The project plans are both technical (IT) and operational in nature. They cover the IT and importantly the business components that will be affected by the project. This includes change management.
  • The project plans also cover third parties activities and dependencies created across the organization and other teams.
  • Project plans are developed and managed daily with time horizons spanning months and in some cases years, depending on the nature of the project.
  • Agile projects that are used, for example within Ecommerce, are managed through daily/weekly/monthly meetings using product-driven objectives/deliverables.
  • The Project Manager's role is to lead these activities from beginning to end. This includes coordinating vertically and horizontally across the organization.

Delegated Freedom to Act

  • All project-related management decisions rest with the project manager. Best practice project management is about 'Planning, organizing; leading, and controlling' to achieve project results.
  • The Project Manager is accountable for determining what needs
  • to be discussed by the stakeholders.
  • The executive stakeholders and Project Sponsor extend their authority through the Project Manager to ensure that the project objectives are delivered according to the plan.
