Investment Associate - Capital Raising and Structured Finance

Role Overview: This role is responsible for the structuring, and execution of debt and equity transactions across our clients Capital Raising (Pillar 2) and Alternative Investments (Pillar 3) divisions. The position operates as a front-office, revenue-generating role , with full ownership of transactions from client engagement through to financial close , as well as responsibility for credit underwriting and execution of balance sheet and joint venture investments . In addition, the role includes building and managing our client's network of funding partners , positioning the business as a preferred origination and structuring partner to a broad base of institutional capital providers. The role functions as the deal lead within the division , working closely with the team and the CEO while independently managing all aspects of deal execution, funder engagement, and transaction delivery. Core Responsibilities: 1. Client Engagement (Pillar 2) Engagement with prospective clients (in-person and virtual) Assess funding requirements and determine appropriate capital solutions (debt, equity, or hybrid) Structure, draft, and negotiate client mandates, including retainers and success fees Take full ownership of client relationships throughout the transaction lifecycle 2. Capital Raising Execution (End-to-End Ownership) Independently manage transactions from mandate through to financial close Conduct commercial and financial due diligence to understand the business and key risks Develop the investment case and transaction positioning Build and maintain detailed financial models (cash flow forecasts, scenarios, covenant analysis) Prepare high-quality Investor Memoranda (IMs) and supporting funding materials Develop and execute funder strategy: Identify and prioritise appropriate lenders and investors Conduct market sounding and appetite testing Lead funder engagement process: Distribute opportunities and manage inbound interest Coordinate and respond to all funder queries Drive process from EOI through to credit approval and signed term sheet Negotiate commercial terms between clients and funders to optimise outcomes 3. Funder engagement & Relationship Management (Pillar 2) Build and expand our client's network of funding partners across: Commercial banks Non-bank lenders Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) Credit funds and asset managers Insurance-backed lenders Lead direct engagement with funders: Set up and run relationship meetings Pitch our client's platform, deal pipeline, and structuring capabilities Develop deep understanding of each funder's: Credit appetite and sector focus Ticket sizes and structuring flexibility Internal approval processes and timelines Maintain and strengthen relationships to: Improve certainty and speed of execution Enhance competitiveness of funding terms Enable repeat deal flow and long-term partnerships 4. Structured Finance & Credit Investing (Pillar 3) Lead evaluation and execution of proprietary and co-investment opportunities, including: Balance sheet investments Joint ventures with capital partners (Turn Capital) Prepare detailed credit memoranda for internal approval Conduct full credit and risk analysis , including: Financial performance and sustainability Security, collateral, and downside protection Recovery and stress-case scenarios Structure bespoke funding solutions, including: Mezzanine finance Structured lending solutions Hybrid debt\/equity instruments Present transactions to internal credit committees and drive approval processes 5. Deal Structuring & Execution Design optimal capital structures aligned with risk\/return objectives Assist in negotiation of key commercial and legal terms Work closely with legal advisors on term sheets, facility agreements, and security structures Manage all Conditions Precedent (CPs) through to financial close Oversee execution and flow of funds to ensure successful deal completion 6. Stakeholder & Process Management Act as central coordinator across: Clients Funders \/ investors Legal advisors Internal stakeholders Manage multiple transactions concurrently while maintaining momentum Provide regular updates to management on deal pipeline and execution progress 7. Portfolio & Relationship Management Maintain ongoing relationships with clients and funding partners post-transaction Support post-deal monitoring and reporting where required Contribute to long-term development of our clients funding ecosystem and deal pipeline Key Characteristics of the Role: Financial Investment management bachelor's degree Or, master's degree in finance\/ financial management Or, newly qualified CA, or a qualified CA with 1 - 3 years post articles experience. Audit experience and post articles experience should be within the financial services\/asset management\/investment environment. Full end-to-end deal ownership with specific emphasis on execution Revenue-generating role linked to transaction success Hybrid exposure across: Advisory (capital raising) Principal investing (balance sheet \/ JV deals) Significant autonomy within a lean team structure High level of responsibility in managing both clients and capital providers
