Key Account Manager - Commodity Chemicals

SUMMARY:

A leader in the manufacturing and distribution of chemicals is seeking an experienced Key Account Manager to establish and maintain a portfolio of customers and manage the complete commodity chemicals product range from purchasing to selling.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a BSc Chemistry or a Degree in Sales and Marketing
• Minimum 5 years selling / sales experience within the chemical industry is essential
• Sound understanding of pricing structures will be required
• Must be commercially sound and customer centric for effective customer relationships
• Project Management exposure will be an added advantage
• Must have previous Key Account experience as well as previous experience in Commodity Chemicals
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel

• Strategically establishing and managing a portfolio of customers.
• Performing price negotiations at senior levels at customers.
• Sending out price adjustment letters as needed.
• Promoting the company products and image.
• Managing key accounts and develop new business.
• Delivering technical presentations at customers on new product launches or as needed.
• Developing industry or market knowledge within the industrial markets.
• Collating and submitting market surveys.
• Growing the customer base year on year in terms of volume, revenue and margins.
• Interfacing with Operations Division and other related relevant business functions.
• Preparing forecasting on a monthly basis.
• Managing a complete range of commodity raw materials from purchasing to selling.
• Managing the general administration of call reports and updating the CRM database.
• Ensuring a sound knowledge of the Commodity Trading business in various industries and markets
• Ensuring a sound knowledge of the South African Commodities market, local producers, end users and customers.
