Lead Developer

SUMMARY:
Our client in IT services and IT consulting is looking to hire a Lead  Lead Developer at our Technology Department in Centurion, whose primary responsibility is to provide technical leadership in the delivery of Data Engineering products and solutions. Collaborating within and potentially across teams, you will ensure the timely and successful completion of strategic projects while adhering to best practices in quality and testing. Your role encompasses system maintenance, support, and knowledge transfer, contributing to the overall success of our Development and Engineering Division.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership (25%):
   
   • Provide technical leadership within the Data Engineering teams.
   • Effectively manage staff when relevant, aligning with team and organizational strategies.
   • Contribute to the annual salary review process as needed.
2. Delivery of Strategic Projects (25%):
   
   • Lead the delivery of strategic projects, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
   • Define and design architecture/technical implementations in collaboration with other leaders and architects.
3. Best Practice Quality and Testing (15%):
   
   • Uphold best practice criteria in software evaluation and testing.
   • Assure team members adhere to established practices.
4. System Maintenance and Support (15%):
   
   • Complete work orders within appropriate timescales, maintaining systems without introducing new defects.
   • Enhance systems to support and transition to new technologies.
5. Knowledge Transfer (10%):
   
   • Share knowledge within development and support teams.
   • Document systems and enhancements for effective knowledge sharing.
   • Mentor and coach Junior Developers.
6. Engineering Processes and Environment (10%):
   
   • Ensure adherence to best practice development processes and standards.
   • Effectively utilize the development toolset and follow departmental development standards.

• Relevant Degree or Diploma or Relevant Work Experience.
• 6+ years of relevant work experience with a Degree/Diploma or 8+ years of relevant work experience.

• Proficiency in C++, C#, .NET Core, WCF, and WebAPI.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or MS Team Foundation Server (TFS).
• SQL Server 2016/9 experience, including relational database design and complex SQL queries.
• Familiarity with SCRUM AGILE methodology.
• Exposure to coding standards, source code configuration management, and software development principles.

• Flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.
• Willingness to assist with tasks as assigned.
