JOB SUMMARY:
Our client in the consultancy sector, has an opportunity available for a Legal Professional to be based in the Bryanston area.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Requirements:
  • Minimum of an LLB or BCom Law degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years prior experience within a commercial legal environment
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of multi-tasking and time management capability

KPAs:
  • Deliver quality legal monitoring services and risk management expertise for the Group.
  • Draft contract notices.
  • Follow up with service providers and obtain and save all necessary performance reports.
  • Research points of law as required.
  • Draft protocols as instructed.
  • Assess risk and compliance on an ongoing basis with reference to specific contractual provisions and advise management on best course of action.
  • Collect, record, analyse and organise necessary data in respect of all matters in the debtors’ book, including and especially litigious matters, for all attorneys.
  • Convene internal briefing sessions to finalise instructions to attorneys and counsel in respect of all matters.
  • Critically analyse levy collection reports and advise attorneys, trustees and managing agents on the best route forward in terms of levy collection laws.
  • Draft briefs to attorneys for counsel for action.
  • Liaise with, and take control of, various portfolios within the debtors’ book to efficiently manage levy collection.
  • Deliberate on the out-of the-box strategic thinking to solve complicated problems in levy collection environments.
  • Create spreadsheets to measure progress and record certain information required by the divisional head of department and other senior management from time to time.
  • Prepare legal fee budgets for litigious and other matters.
  • Obtain source documents on request, prepare to-do lists for team members assisting in particular cases, draft reports of investigations, prepare detailed business plans for resolution of levy collection problems and present to Legal, and senior management.
  • Draft / review / amend all summonses, pleadings, affidavits, and other legal documents.
  • Compose, type, and distribute meeting notes, routine correspondence, reports, contracts, addendums and amended contracts.
  • Manage projects and contribute to committee and team-work.
  • Review work done by others to check for correct spelling and grammar, ensure that company format policies are followed, and recommend revisions.
