SUMMARY:
Our client, a leading project-driven business operating across Southern Africa, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Legal Compliance / Customs and Trade Governance Specialist to manage and oversee all customs, international trade compliance, and cross-border logistics governance activities.

This is a highly specialised role suited to a candidate with strong knowledge of customs legislation, import/export compliance, and African cross-border operations within construction, engineering, mining, infrastructure, or large project environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage customs and international trade compliance across imports, exports, re-exports, and temporary imports
Provide advisory support on customs legislation, VAT, excise, exchange control, and trade regulations
Oversee import/export documentation, including tariff classifications, permits, customs declarations, invoices, and shipping documentation
Manage temporary import processes for equipment, plant, and vehicles, including acquittals, renewals, guarantees, and re-export compliance

Minimum Requirements:

Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, Law, or a related field
Strong knowledge of customs and international trade regulations
Proven experience in cross-border logistics and trade compliance
Strong understanding of temporary imports and African border operations
Ability to interpret contracts and provide regulatory guidance
