JOB SUMMARY:
Our client in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry is looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to join their team!

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Purpose:

1. To supply the customer good quality parts timeously and within budget.

2. Meet departmental KPIs. When KPIs are not achieved, identify reasons why and

implement improvement activities to constantly improve performance

3. To ensure the department complies with all relevant legislation and company

policies and procedures

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Safety Health & Environment

1.1. Ensure there is a safe working environment for all employees.

1.2. Responsible for meeting the Safety Targets set for the department.

1.3. Ensure 5S audit findings are cleared timeously.

1.3. Responsible for ensuring that the department adheres to ISO14001 policies

and procedures.

2. Quality

2.1. Responsible for meeting the Quality Targets set for the department.

2.2. Responsible for reporting the Quality performance of the department to Top management.

2.3. Responsible for finalization and submission of CARs relating to non-conformances in the departments as directed by QA.

2.4. Ensure that audit findings are timeously cleared.

2.5. Attend daily scrap meetings for FG Store.

2.6. Responsible for ensuring that good quality parts are sent to the customer on

time and correctly identified.

2.7. Responsible for ensuring accurate reporting of the non-conforming parts found

in the Finished Goods Stores area.

3. Risk

3.1. Identify the risk processes in the department and implement

countermeasures to negate the risks in relation to legal compliance and

customer requirements.

3.2. Ensure compliance to Mibco Main agreement and relevant labour legislation.

4. Delivery

4.1. Responsible for meeting the Delivery targets set for the company.

4.2. Responsible for reporting the Delivery performance of the departments to Top management

4.3. Ensure the stock holding policies are adhered to in order eliminate SSNs.

4.4. Ensure customer orders are met at all times.

5. Inventory Control

5.1. Set up and manage a cycle counting process to ensure accuracy of stock

levels.

5.2. Identify min/max levels for all stock items, including risk parts.

5.3. Ensure all stock is received and issued from FG Store and that inventory is

reported accurately.

5.5. Ensure FIFO procedures are followed in all areas.

5.7. Ensure there is sufficient external dunnage to meet production

requirements.

6. Warehouse Management

6.1. Ensure external customer orders are packed and delivered on

time.

6.2. Ensure there is an effective and efficient layout in FG Stores area.

6.3. Reconcile deliveries with PODs from customer.

6.4. Co-ordinate support from other departments to reduce downtime and stock

shortages.

6.5. Ensure Escalation Procedure is followed in their departments to enable

decisive decision making.

6.6. Ensure that the facility is in a good working condition and any problems are

immediately identified to Maintenance via the Job Card system.

6.7. Ensure Work Instructions, Packing Instructions and Safety Instructions are

visible and adhered to at all times in the department.

7. Cost

7.1. Responsible for timeous and accurate submission of department budget to Finance department on an annual basis.

7.2. Ensure that department financial budgets are adhered to.

7.3. Responsible for reporting on performance against financial budget.

7.4. Responsible for implementing cost saving activities to adhere to department budgets and improve the profitability of the business.

7.5. Understand the capacity constraints in the departments to facilitate the manpower scheduling in line with the budget requirements.

8. HRD

8.1. Ensure there is an effective and cost-efficient structure in place.

8.2. Ensure all subordinates have job descriptions, KPIs and training needs analysis.

8.3. Coach, train and mentor subordinates in both class room and OJT scenarios.

8.4. Ensure the company Performance Appraisal Policy is adhered to.

8.5. Ensure adherence to the HRD plan and BBBEE requirements.

8.6. Ensure the correct procedures are followed when initiating disciplinary action – in conjunction with HR.

8.7. Chair disciplinary hearings.

8.8. Responsible for ensuring succession planning for all critical positions.

8.9. Ensure regular feedback is given to all employees regarding the performance of the company.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Logistics/Supply Chain Management

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Logistics/Warehouse management in an automotive environment
