Maintenance Manager

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Equipment Maintenance

• Develops and ensures the implementation of maintenance programs and procedures
• Creates and enforces Maintenance Schedules. Plans, organises and implements mechanical maintenance and repair of production and utility machinery
• Oversees the installation of equipment and machinery by equipment contractors
• Communicates with the production team on mechanical maintenance related issues
• Coordinates the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance (preventive and corrective) for all equipment and machinery directly and indirectly involved in the production process. E.g. Body Maker, Cupper, Trimmers, Washers, Baler, etc.
• Modifies and upgrades production and utility machinery as and when required/demanded to achieve reduction in the cost and improvement in efficiency of the process
• Implements maintenance programmes and oversees day-to-day maintenance activities to ensure the proper and efficient maintenance and repair of equipment
• Supervises the general maintenance and repairs of Plant Auxiliary equipment
• Contracts maintenance work that is beyond the scope/capability of the Maintenance unit. This includes defining the work scope, soliciting bids from vendors, vendor selection, and safe work execution

Tool room & Inker room Operations

• Examines and inspects worn out or defected tools, and determines course of action for reworking, fixing or replacing them
• Supervises Equipment Rework/ Grinding activities. This involves reworking production equipment parts and spares to return them to original capability
• Manages the spare part requirements to ensure the Tool room & Inker Room are capable at all times to meet equipment maintenance requirements
• Supervises the setting up and operation of machine tools, grinders, and other maintenance tools
• Oversees the selection, grinding, and adjustment of tools, ensuring correct speeds and feed rates of tooling for efficient machining
• Ensures that parts and tooling are in accordance with requirements, instructions, prints, and work orders. May be required to make drawings or sketches of parts to be made or repaired
• Initiates the spare parts procurement process.
• Ensure the integrity of the IMS is maintained when changes to the IMS are planned and implemented
• Ensuring that Integrated Management System (Quality Standard - ISO9001; Environmental ISO14001; Food Safety ISO22000; Occupational Health ISO45000; Food Safety Pre-requisite ISO22002-4) conforms to the requirements of International Standard

Health, Safety and Environment

• Ensures that all maintenance programs comply with the applicable Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
• Promotes safety culture in the team and ensures required training, PPE and safety tools are provided by the HSE department, in order to ensure safe maintenance activities

People Management

• Provides direction to the Maintenance team, and ensures the quality of work meets with performance expectations
• Provides on-the-job coaching and mentoring to the Maintenance team
• Prioritises and assign tasks to subordinates to ensure effective workflow
• Reviews/inspects work carried out by subordinates, and evaluates their performance

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Education

• Minimum of an a First Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Advanced skills (Journeyman / Trade Certificate level) required in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, plumbing, carpentry, piping systems

Required Experience

• Minimum of 5-10 years work experience, 5 of which must be in a maintenance role within the manufacturing industry or FMCG industry
• Demonstrable experience in carrying out electrical and mechanical maintenance
• Experience with basic machining functions such as turning, threading, boring, grinding, cutting, sanding, etc.
