POSITION INFO:

Manager – Data Management and Governance

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible to redesign and deploy all relevant master data to ensure that future processes and reporting can be delivered successfully. There is a requirement to establish common ways of working in the creation and maintenance of master data going forward as well as comprehensive governance and control mechanisms to ensure it is complete, accurate and consistently applied to ensure ongoing operation of processes and reporting across the business. Master Data Governance Manager will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to the data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, both at the department and Business and Functional areas level, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Master Data & Governance Strategy and Planning

Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities

Roll out an enterprise wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to company policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture

Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal information assets

Develop and maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners

Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the organisation

Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.

Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the marketplace / represent data as a strategic business asset.

Designing a process for master data cleansing, working with the relevant teams to communicate, drive and monitor cleansing activities.

Designing appropriate change management interventions to promote consistent ways of working and build a common understanding across the business of master data processes, governance and standards.

Business Partnering

Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning

Co-ordinating and consolidating the design requirements for programme-wide master data, working with the Business Partners and BI Team through the redesign process

Working with the wider business to validate master data requirements and ensuring future state master data designs are correctly aligned with the needs of the business

Assessing the change impacts and consequences of identified master data requirements in conjunction with the Technology, provide progress reports to management and oversee periodic updates to the Data Governance Roadmap

Designing appropriate training and communication training materials for business, finance and other stakeholders in the process

Creating a set of master data reference material

Relevant Bachelors’ Degree

DAMA CDMP (Advantageous)

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 7 years'''' experience in similar role

Microsoft Navision working experience (Advantageous)

MS SQL knowledge advantageous

Business Analysis knowledge/qualification advantageous

Scrum certification and/or experience

Salary – R800 000 - R900 000kpa CTC
