CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this post is to manage the buildings, grounds and services plans of all Nelson Mandela University infrastructure, perform architectural design work (new structures, alterations and additions), to draw building plans and update all changes and to Project Manage Minor and Capital Works.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Manage and maintain the floor plans (Hard copy archive and electronic copy database).
• Prepare working drawings and tender documentation for small building projects.
• Architectural design work and specification.
• Consulting with staff on new works, alteration and addition requests.
• Consult and manage professional consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Project Management functions of Capital and Minor works Projects.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Excellent knowledge of University Infrastructure is an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit.
• In depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word.
• Knowledge of ITS Space Management database is an advantage.
• Strong verbal and communication skills.
• Leadership and management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of building structures and materials.
• Strong architectural design ability.

REQUIREMENTS

In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must possess a M+3 Qualification in Architectural studies with at least 5 years related experience, and be registered with SACAP. Project Management experience would be an advantage. A valid Code 8 drivers licence is required.
