Managing Director

SUMMARY:
The Managing Director will provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the lodge, with responsibility for its financial performance, commercial growth, guest experience and people.
The successful candidate will lead the business with a strong focus on profitability, operational excellence, service standards, team performance, business development and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

• Provide overall strategic direction and leadership to the lodge.
• Oversee operational performance and ensure consistently high standards.
• Drive efficiency, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Identify and implement opportunities for business growth and development.
• Ensure the lodge delivers against agreed strategic and operational objectives.

Financial & Commercial Performance

• Take overall responsibility for financial performance and profitability.
• Drive revenue growth, occupancy and commercial performance.
• Oversee budgets, forecasting, expenditure and cost control.
• Identify new revenue streams and commercial opportunities.
• Monitor business performance and implement corrective action where required.

Guest Experience

• Ensure exceptional guest experiences and luxury service standards.
• Maintain and enhance the lodge's reputation and offering.
• Address guest feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop new experiences and initiatives that enhance guest satisfaction.

Leadership & People

• Lead, develop and motivate the senior management and lodge teams.
• Build a strong culture of accountability, teamwork and high performance.
• Develop talent and succession within the organisation.
• Ensure clear performance expectations and effective people management.
• Lead by example and promote professionalism and service excellence.

Sales, Marketing & Business Development

• Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Reservations to maximise revenue.
• Identify new markets, partnerships and business opportunities.
• Monitor market and competitor trends.
• Drive initiatives to increase occupancy, guest spend and overall revenue.
• Strengthen the lodge's brand, reputation and market position.

Stakeholder Management & Governance

• Build strong relationships with owners, partners, suppliers and key stakeholders.
• Ensure effective reporting on financial and operational performance.
• Maintain appropriate governance, risk management, compliance, health and safety standards.
• Represent the lodge professionally within the hospitality industry.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements Minimum 5 years' hospitality experience, with significant senior management responsibility. Proven experience as a Managing Director, General Manager or equivalent senior leader within a luxury lodge, hotel or resort. Exceptional Deputy General Managers or Operations Managers may be considered. Strong commercial, financial, operational and leadership skills. Proven track record of driving profitability, revenue growth and business development. Strong experience managing and developing hospitality teams. Excellent understanding of luxury hospitality and guest-service standards. Strong communication, decision-making and stakeholder-management skills.
