SUMMARY:
Managing Director Position Available - EE

POSITION INFO:

Key Performance Area (Objective):

Financial Management – Weight 20%:

  • In conjunction with the CEO and CFO:
    • Prepare, present and monitor the implementation of the annual budget for the region to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and tat fixed costs are minimised;
    • Evaluate capital funding and financing options;
    • Ensure growth and profit opportunities are compatible with key objectives and within acceptable risk standards;
    • Identify and investigate new investment opportunities by developing appropriate investment strategies to capitalise on opportunities to enhance the growth of the Data Centre business and assets;
    • Assumes accountability for the Data Centre business P&L, setting and monitoring functional performance against targets, as well as implementing mid to long term strategies to improve performance;
    • Together with functional head of departments, approves and validates all Opex costs for the respective region;

 

Strategic Initiatives and Projects – Weight 20%:

  • Leads strategic projects for the region, in line with key business objectives;
  • Analyse opportunities for growth via acquisition, joint ventures and performs the due diligence with the relevant functional leaders within the organisation;
  • Provide leadership in the formulation and review of policies and programmes in relation to annual targets for the region;
  • Research and analyse industry, market, and competitor trends to make informed strategic decisions;
  • Engage and influence the Executive leadership team in strategic decision-making that offers return on investment;
  • Provide input and oversee the development and implementation of initiatives to achieve revenues, margin, brand and customer experience targets;

 

Business Development – Weight 20%:

  • Work closely with the Sales team on the execution of the sales strategy and methodology to secure new business;
  • Analyse opportunities for growth in market segments to drive profitability;
  • Represent the company in negotiations with customers. Suppliers, government departments and other key stakeholders to secure lucrative revenue opportunities for the organisation;
  • Initiate programmes to ensure that the organisation remains at the forefront of the industry and applies the most cost-effective methods and approaches;
  • Ensure, through functional heads, the enablement, and implementation of the required Company Risk and Compliance policies and processes and the maintenance of good Corporate Governance;
  • Work closely with the LT Group Sales team/s and leadership to acquire new business and attract hyperscale customers into our facilities;

 

Business Excellence – Weight 10%:

  • Proactively anticipates the needs of emerging business strategies for the Region and provide input on best practices for data centre design, logistics and operations planning;
  • Represents and actively participate in Group meetings related to risk management and legislative requirements for the organisation;
  • Through relevant functional head of departments, reviews that each operation and function is correctly and optimally resourced, is operating at agreed standard/s and achieving agreed goals and targets in line with the regional and business strategy for the organisation;
  • Works closely with the Operations Leadership team to achieve operational excellence in accordance with the organisation’s business requirements and local legislations around safety, sustainability, risk, policies, compliance and governance;
  • Proactively engages with relevant stakeholders within the organisation (Products and Project Teams) to drive continuous improvements in the business operating model;
  • Conducts research on market trends and developments on innovations and advances in data centre technology;
  • Provide input to the Business Operations teams on leading-edge product offerings and services to ensure the organisation retains its competitive edge;
  • Engages with the regional functional heads to ensure continuous performance improvements in all areas of the business;

 

Human Capital Management – Weight 15%:

  • Overview, updates and maintains the relevant organisation structures and maintains liaison with Human Resources;
  • Develop the necessary plan/s to ensure that Business Units within Operations meet their aged goals and objectives, meet staff on a pre-agreed basis, identify and agree on key performance areas, key objectives / tasks and action plans;
  • Carries out evaluation of all staff, identifies performance strengths and deficiencies, and arranges for necessary action (for example further on the job training);
  • Ensure that members of staff are being rewarded equitably and that the requisite human resource policies, procedures and systems are in place and are being followed accurately;

 

Stakeholder Management – Weight 15%:

  • Engage with vendors and suppliers to optimise strategic partnership and business value;
  • Ensure that Vendors / Suppliers Service Level Agreements (SLA) are reviewed in line with company procurement policies and procedures;
  • Represents the organisation as a spokesperson on technology matters and providing technical support and inputs on regulatory matters;
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships across key customers technology / service providers, government and regulatory officials;
  • Achieves consistent brand messaging in the respective country markets;

 

Key Decisions:

  • Decides on regional operating model to achieve revenue targets to make the region profitable;
  • Decides on commercial strategies in line with the overall strategic growth agenda for the region;
  • Decides on annual departmental and regional targets;
  • Decides on communication strategy to stakeholders, internal and external;
  • Decides on Opco budget allocation for Sales;
  • Decides on staff training and development requirements;
  • Decides on and contributes to the policies and procedures for the region;

 

Accountable For:

  • Accountable for the execution of the regional sales strategy;
  • Accountable for the P&L of the region;
  • Accountable for promoting the company in the region;
  • Accountable for increasing revenue;
  • Accountable for delivering on agreed sales targets;

 

Jo Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Engineering or Business-related field – Essential
  • Master’s Degree in B.Admin, business Leadership or strategic Management - Desirable

 

Experience:

  • 10 years’ experience in managing and implementing organisational / departmental strategy in the ICT industry – Essential
  • Proven experience as Managing Director or in similar roles - Essential

 

Knowledge Areas:

  • Demonstrable knowledge in developing strategic and business plans – Essential;
  • Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the organisation – Essential;
  • Understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance – Essential;
  • Knowledge of the SA / EA Telecoms, and Data centre industry and market – Essential
