JOB SUMMARY:
A Market leader in Materials Handling Lifting Equipment is seeking a detail orientated, proactive, results driven person to assist the Mechanical Engineer.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Qualifications:

Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma
Computer Literate (Must be able to work on CAD 3D)
Very good written and oral communication skills.
Industry related experience. (Cranes, forklifts, tail lifts, skip loaders)
Needs to have experience resolving warranty issues on equipment.
Excellent knowledge of Load capacity and strength of materials.

Job Description:

Report to the Mechanical Engineer.
Carry out load and stability calculations for the sales and workshop personnel
Investigate breakdowns and unusual occurrences to determine the root causes of failure.
Produce investigation reports for customers.
Assist the workshop personnel with complex breakdowns when required.
Assist and expedite projects in the Workshop.
Train and comply with being a safety representative as per the OHSact.
Liaise with body builders on mounting directives and advise on mounting procedure.
Control and manage the warranty register.
Carry out warranty investigations and report on findings.
Liaise with suppliers and investigate if the company receives the best options with respect to price and quality of engineering products.
Become familiar with the Extranet and the company Technical Manuals.
Assist the ME with day-to-day operations as required.
Assist customers with technical queries when required.
Assist the distributors with technical queries when necessary.
Attend the safety meetings as a committee member.
Conduct audits on safety registers.
Randomly inspect completed service and repair jobs to evaluate workmanship and compliance.
Where able, assist in providing on-going training to the workshop personnel.
Encourage and foster a culture of excellence in the workshop, striving to be a world class operation.
