JOB SUMMARY:
Mining Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

There is an exciting opportunity for a Mining Manager in the Gauteng Province. The appointed person will assist the Mine Manager in the day-to-day activities of managing the mine, specific to area of responsibility. They will be managing production and maintaining safety outputs within a strict legislative and highly regulated environment.

Qualifications:

Must have Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
Mine managers certificate of competency is a must
MBA or business management certificate will have an added advantage
5-10 years in mine management position (Mine Overseer position included in this period)

2. Key Attributes:

Should have carried at least appointment as 2.6.1 and 2.14.1 in previous production environment.
A previous 3.1a appointment will be advantages
Must be able to carry 3.1.a appointment and will report to 4.1 appointee.
Must have 5-10 years of mine management experience in underground mining in South Africa (2.5.2.1 appointee, thus Mine Manager’s Certificate)
Must have a track record of establishing and maintaining safe and efficient operations
Must have an understanding of how to manage mining contractors

3. Key Responsibilities:
Establish a safe and secure working environment for all
Set stringent yet achievable safety targets
Be able to establish a long-, medium- and short-term budget and operations plan, with the finance team
Execute and achieved the operations budget
Establish contingency plans to ensure production targets are met
