SUMMARY:
To provide an efficient, business relevant service to the company by being actively involved in the relevant service areas, with specific reference to Industrial Relations, Union interaction, Death and Disability claims and IOD’s, resulting in business appropriate value add.

POSITION INFO:

 

Duties:

IR

  •      Ensure awareness and understanding across Company of IR Policy and Procedure Manual,

 

  • Provide training on application of IR code as required,
  • Ensure adherence to LRA & IR Policies
  • Assist managers in the compilation and preparation of IR related documents and charges,

 

  • Responsible for the facilitation of all IR actions including grievances, disciplinary hearings, poor performance and incapacity matters
  • Assist both management and accused employees in preparation for disciplinary enquiries
  • Ensure performance counselling sessions are conducted & documented in case of poor performance
  • Represent company at CCMA / Bargaining Council
  • Liasie with Labour Lawyer  / Advocates when required
  • Regularly review HR processes & services and revise, create and implement changes to improve operational efficiencies & ensure best practices across the Co in terms of Labour Relations Act and other applicable legislation

Reporting

  • Compile monthly Disciplinary / IR report 

Unions

  • Responsible for interaction and consultation with Unions
  • Attend meetings with Unions as required

Managing the People processes

  • Deal with all death and disability claims, ensure relevant parties are consulted, documents completed and submitted via the required on-line portals
  • Deal with all IOD cases, ensure claim documentation are correctly completed and submitted via the on-line portal

Administration

  • Conduct Exit Interviews with terminating employees and compile monthly report in prescribed format
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all processes or information exposed to

Requirements

 

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE NECESSARY:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification
  • At least 6 years’ experience in the required IR and HR fields, with hands on experience and demonstrated abilities in each of the above mentioned elements and proven track record in Industrial Relations

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Expert in Labour Law with specialist knowledge of the South African LRA and BCEA
  • Competent to deal with all IR matters in a professional and appropriate manner
  • Seasoned in representing the employer at the CCMA / Bargaining Council, both at conciliation and arbitration level
  • Proven ability to deal with unions and run meetings independently, take minutes and follow up on action items
  • Fully competent to independently execute all the areas reflected above
  • Fully au fait with MS Office suite applications

 

  • Own reliable transport
  • Represent company at applicable CCMA and Bargaining council offices (Nationally), thus willing and able to travel
