SUMMARY:

An established manufacturer of specialised agrochemicals is seeking the above to manage the South African commercial interest and deliver on financial expectations, by ensuring the business interests are managed in the region with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by managing, organizing and directing employees and establishing, monitoring and managing organizational goals and direction.



POSITION INFO:


Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a BSc. Agric degree or similar qualification
  • An MBA will be advantageous
  • 10+ years’ experience in the Agrochemical industry as well as previous experience in a commercial environment is essential
  • Previous experience in a management role, ideally at a national level/EXCO level will be required


The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Validating the process of demand plans in APO-DP, including price and volume for financial commitments in Managing relationships with Distributor Heads, Head office staff Sales staff and team members in the geographical scope.
  • Delivering on growth expectations in the geographical scope, with ongoing analysis of the region to identify opportunities and make proposals.
  • Setting budgets per Sales area in line with company budget.              
  • Maintaining forecasts by customer, and tracking and improving forecast accuracy.
  • Ensuring forecast vs. budget alignment.
  • Monitoring price/volume/sales/GP (actual vs forecast vs LY) to achieve budget.
  • Ensuring commercial and supply chain alignment.
  • Working in close collaboration with the Marketing Department to align on projects.
  • Implementing agreed marketing plans.
  • Collaborating with marketing on client incentives.
  • Creating a strategy to develop high margin products to their maximum.
  • Developing marketing intelligence by interacting with distributors and agents in getting information about competition and market trends.
  • Adhering to all HR policies, procedures and requirements to ensure sound people practices.
  • Managing the day-to-day team activities.
  • Developing employees based on identified training needs in accordance with the Workplace Skills Plan.
  • Ensuring general discipline in the department and ensuring corrective action is taken on all misconduct incidents.
  • Conducting performance appraisals as per Company Policy.
  • Ensuring the Department is fully staffed with appropriately experienced employees.
  • Conducting regular analysis of opposition pricing for the assigned region.
  • Determining pricing per product and developing pricing strategy.
  • Managing tender approvals and costing management.
  • Monitoring tender volumes/pricing as per tender submission.
  • Ensuring monthly pricelist maintenance.
  • Delivering quarterly and annual sales and GP budget in the geographical region.
  • Analysing and tracking of sales vs. budget.
  • Developing sales and distribution strategy for the territory.
  • Setting of consignment stock thresholds and managing consignment stock levels where applicable.
  • Identifying high value product or label gaps in the market and helping develop business cases for development.
  • Providing technical support, including technical training of distributor agents, agent/farm visits, field visits and farmer days.
  • Managing complaints handling and liaison with the Technical Department.

Salary package is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
