Operational Accountant

We’re currently partnering with a leading freight and logistics company that’s looking to bring on board a hands-on, forward-thinking Operational Accountant. This isn’t your standard reporting role. You’ll be acting as the 2IC to the Finance Manager, managing a tight-knit finance team, and playing a key role in operations that span international markets.
We’re looking for someone with a completed BCom in Accounting or Finance, a minimum of 5 years' experience, and—crucially—a proven ability to lead and develop finance teams. If you’ve had exposure to working across borders or collaborating with international finance teams, you’ll feel right at home here.

POSITION INFO:

As the Operational Accountant, your duties and responsibilities include the following
Take full ownership of delivering efficient, accurate, and timely accounting support to the business
Ensure high standards of financial service across all operational cases
Process payments via multiple banking platforms
Capture daily receipts and payments
Ensure accurate allocation and alignment with financial records
Post payroll-related journal entries and ensure accurate reflection of salary costs
Manage all international supplier transactions and process payments accordingly
Oversee domestic supplier accounts and monthly recurring expenses
Prepare and distribute weekly aging reports and financial statements for key strategic clients
Oversee full debtors’ management
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and validate that all bank balances align with what’s on the system
Administer the fixed asset register in Pastel Evolution
Ensure correct asset classification, tracking, and depreciation calculations
Maintain organized, accessible records of all banking activities and transactions
Serve as the first point of contact for payment follow-ups with customers
Handle general accounting tasks and support broader finance team functions as needed
Escalate any outstanding financial issues or discrepancies in a timely and structured manner
Stakeholder engagement
Ensure all financial records and reports are maintained and in line with compliance requirements
Continuous development

Qualification:
BCom Honours
Grade 12 (Matric)
