Operations Manager

Reporting to the Divisional Manager you will be responsible for communicating and aligning the operations capabilities in support of and contributing to the overall company strategic direction.

Essential Qualification, Experience and Skills:

• Over 10 years post-graduation in a senior Operations management role
• BSc. (Chemical Engineering/similar) engineering qualification essential
• MBA or Commerce/business qualification is an added advantage
• Petro, Chemical or Oil sector experience
• Excellent operations management initiatives, e.g., Reliability Centred Maintenance, Lean Six Sigma
• OHSACT: excellent working knowledge of SA laws.
• Financial management: Ability to set operating budgets, control operations in line with the
• budgets and understand the drivers behind the cost of sales.
• Able to evaluate and justify economically feasible spending
• Proven skills in negotiating and mediating conflict
• Think strategically, be open to new ideas, manage innovation
• Results-driven - proven ability to achieve targets within required timeframes.
• Influencing skills with the ability to resolve issues, build consensus

Roles Responsibilities:

• Branch operations strategic plan
• Branch administration
• Reliable, effective, optimized, and efficient operation of the manufacturing operations including Asset Management and Operations Excellence
• Branch supply chain management of feedstock and finished product availability
• Branch related service level contracts.
• Product quality management systems are upheld, and ISO standards are maintained
• Appointed Environmental Manager for the Branch responsible for ensuring all environmental regulations are complied with and the retention of IOS14001 accreditation
• OSHAct 16(2) appointee.
• Health and Safety within the Branch
• Effective communication with government departments and local communities
• Generation of monthly OPEX reports
• Effective management of all working systems
