PROCESS LEADER (plastic packaging)

POSITION INFO:

Our client is an international packaging company based in Kempton Park looking for a Process Leader in Blow Moulding Department.

Key responsibilities include:

• The Process Leader leads & manages a team of 4 to 6 artisans (mechanical & electrical) in the delivery of safety, process reliability and efficiency.
• The role serves as escalation point for complex process and technical issues and requires a strong liaison and collaboration with the Technical team.
• Imparts technical/content training to the direct team. Performs skill assessments on machine minders/ artisans and recommends training to address gaps observed.
• Motivates the team and promotes team values of efficiency, productivity, quality and teamwork
• Process reliability - Continuous improvement of process reliability, preventive maintenance systems
• Process efficiency- Continuous improvement of output rates, product quality and material scrap levels. Process stability & product consistency
• Technical Leadership, mentoring & technical skills assessment - Skills development, Technical support and continuous improvement
• Leading and Supervising - Staff competency and morale.
• Blow moulding machine operations, settings, process & construction.
• Injection moulding machine operations, settings, process & construction.
• Mould cooling systems and cooling water treatment.
• Mould changeover systems & SMED techniques.
• Polymer grinding systems & regrind applications.
• Polymer material properties.

Minimum requirements:

• Qualified Artisan
• An instrumentation and control qualification would be an advantage.
• “Train the trainer” qualification would be an advantage.

• 10-15 years plastic machine processes experience
• Supervising a team.
• Evaluating technical skills & development opportunities of machine minders & artisans.
• Preventive maintenance.
• Trouble shooting and root cause analysis.
• Process optimization.
