Parts Analyst & Buyer - Pretoria, Gauteng
POSITION INFO:
A growing automotive brand is seeking an experienced Parts Analyst & Buyer to support its national dealer network and service operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing parts demand, forecasting stock requirements, managing procurement activities and maintaining optimal parts availability. This role requires a strong balance between cost efficiency, inventory control, supplier management and customer service. Key Responsibilities Parts Analysis and Forecasting Analyse historical sales data, dealer demand and market trends to forecast parts requirements. Monitor stock movements and recommend adjustments to maintain optimal inventory levels. Identify fast-moving, slow-moving and obsolete stock and implement corrective actions. Compile monthly and quarterly demand reports for management review. Procurement and Buying Place and manage orders with local and international suppliers. Track purchase orders and ensure parts are delivered within agreed lead times. Negotiate pricing and commercial terms while maintaining quality standards. Monitor currency fluctuations, shipping costs and customs duties that affect landed costs. Inventory and Supply Chain Management Maintain healthy stock levels to minimise backorders and lost sales. Provide clear procurement and delivery instructions to warehouse teams. Work closely with logistics providers to track shipments and resolve delays. Ensure compliance with OEM parts policies and procurement procedures. Reporting and Administration Prepare reports on stock performance, fill rates and purchasing KPIs. Monitor supplier performance and escalate non-conformance. Maintain accurate pricing and cost information on the ERP system. Keep accurate records of purchase orders, invoices and shipping documentation. Minimum Requirements Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement or a related field will be advantageous. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in parts procurement or supply chain management, preferably within the automotive industry. Strong analytical, inventory planning and forecasting skills. Proven supplier negotiation and relationship management experience. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP systems. Knowledge of import and export regulations and customs procedures. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
