Procurement Officer – Morningside, Durban

SUMMARY:
Do you have strong negotiation skills and proven experience procuring goods from international and local suppliers?
 
Our client in Morningside, Durban, requires a driven individual to manage the full procurement and import process from sourcing and supplier negotiations to coordinating deliveries and maintaining schedules.
 
Proficiency in Pastel is preferred, with intermediate Excel skills. Own transport is essential.

POSITION INFO:
REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12, or equivalent qualification
• Experience within a buying related role
• Must have good planning, time management, and analytical skills
• Computer literacy with intermediate MS Office experience (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Experience working on Pastel preferred
• Own transport and valid driver’s license ESSENTIAL
• Excellent planning and time management skills
• Analytical skills

• Management of the entire procurement process:
• Sourcing and negotiating pricing for all raw materials, packaging, and finished goods
• Co-ordinating transport and delivery
• Maintaining and reporting on a delivery schedule
• Overseeing the entire import process:
• Sourcing and negotiating pricing for all raw materials with international suppliers
• Arranging shipping, transport, and delivery
• Maintaining and reporting on a delivery schedule
• Ensuring that purchase orders are prepared and processed accurately and timeously
• Building and managing relationships with local, national, and international suppliers
• Communicating with suppliers to resolve any prices, quality, or delivery issues
• Maintaining a good working relationship and open lines of communication with other departments (Sales, Stores, Accounting, etc) and Director/s to ensure smooth running of the process from start to end
• Providing support in resolving any issues related to orders, deliveries, or quality of materials
