Procurement Officer

POSITION INFO:

An experienced Procurement Officer is required for a food-based company in the Durban North area of KZN

Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining the required levels of stock and materials
• Timeous placement of orders to ensure continuity of supply and minimum stock levels
• Review orders for accuracy and generate relevant Purchase Orders
• Ensure that all sourcing cycle information is entered accurately and timeously onto the system
• Attend to delivery queries of materials purchased from foreign suppliers, including related custom and shipping documentation
• Follow-up on all release documents for cross-border and seaport consignments
• Complete ad-hoc administrative activities that may not be directly related to the Procurement process
• Provide all support-related functions to assist the Procurement Manager in meeting deadlines and avoiding material shortages
• Sourcing from alternative suppliers as and when required
• Applying sound sourcing principles in order to achieve the best supply at the most competitive rates
• Actively reduce the risk of unreliable suppliers, while maintaining quality and pricing

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• A relevant Procurement/Supply Chain Management qualification would be beneficial
• Must have +3 years Procurement (FMCG) experience – NOT Negotiable
• Good background/understanding of food-based ingredients
• MS Office with Advanced Excel skills
• Good working Knowledge of Syspro, SAP, JD Edwards or similar ERP system
• Good written and verbal communication
• Able to prioritize tasks and work independently
• Work consistently and accurately in a high-pressure environment
