Procurement Officer (Sourcing)

SUMMARY:
Our client, a market leader in their field, is current looking for a Procurement Officer – Sourcing to fill their 12-month fixed term contract need.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Management.
• 5 years working experience in purchasing of which 1 to 2 years must be in chemical manufacturing.
• SAP experience is essential.
• Experience with ERP systems (BAAN, SAP or similar ERP system experience).

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Supplier Relationship Management - develop, manage and maintain a positive supplier relationship.
• Total Cost Management - effectively review and assess the value propositions to ensure optimal return.
• Procurement Planning - ensure effective alignment between Purchasing and Planning to meet customer requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement and projects.
• SHERQ Management - maintain and improve SHEQ performance within the department.

Competencies:

• Good knowledge of Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing Principles, Supply Chain fundamentals, understanding of inventory costing methodology and procedures.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and ERP systems and capabilities.
• Resourceful.
• Able to handle pressure.
• An assertive problem solver with decision making abilities and a team member who is self-motivated.
• Must have good business acumen.
• Able to communicate at all levels, be organized and self-disciplined.
