Production Manager - Isando, JHB

SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a Production Manager to ensure all aspects of the production are completed within budget and oversees the cost-effectiveness and planning of the entire production process.

POSITION INFO:

Job Specification

Able to perform each essential duty / key performance area exceptionally well 

Production

Plan a production schedule for the required project/job 

Implement and control the production schedule

Review and adjust the schedule where needed

Determine the human and material resources required to complete the project/job

Manage the resources to meet production targets

Work out and implement standard operating procedures and ensure these procedures are adhered to

Set and monitor product quality standards

Monitor cycle times from close to the opening to determine the impact of costing

Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives

Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems

Prepare and Maintain production reports

Estimate production costs

Set and manage production budgets

Implement cost control programs

Selecting, ordering, and purchasing raw material, machine spares, and labels

Weekly stock take of all labels, stickers, plastic bags, and Dynamic Cornice Stock

Stock Control of Raw Material Room

Machinery

Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification, and procurement

Ensure that supervisors record the weight check on each machine hourly

Ensure cycle times and weights per machine are monitored 

Closing balances per machines recorded on production card sheets

Address settings of machines to reduce material aging

Organizing the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment

Health and Safety

Ensuring the Health and Safety Regulations are adhered to at all-time in the factory

Keeping abreast of all amendments to the OHS Act and ensuring they are implemented

Staff Matters

Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement

Daily supervision of shift supervisors

Organizing relevant training sessions for the various factory employees 

Part of the interview panel for selection of required staff vacancies in the factory

General

Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution, and management

Minimum Requirements

Production Qualification – Degree or Diploma in Production Management

At least 5 – 10 years of successful production/maintenance management in a manufacturing plant

Degree in Business Management or Engineering

Knowledge and Experience in Production and Manufacturing process and techniques

Knowledge of Raw Materials

Knowledge of quality systems and standards

Knowledge of health and safety standard and compliance

Knowledge of Process improvement techniques

Knowledge of machines and tools

Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices

Solid computer skillsExtensive knowledge of both Coal-fired and HFO Boilers (heavy furnace oil)

Mechanical and Electrical knowledge, preferably from the Trades

Experience in Hydraulics and Pneumatics

Understanding of the Raw Materials and why/where they are to be used

EPS Manufacturing process, preferably from within Industry or Plastics background

Ability to read drawings

Understand molds and Machinery to make requisite changes when required

Knowledge of wet and dry vacuum systems

Compressed air knowledge

Water cooling and Circulation systems

Supervisor Experience
