Production Team Lead - Metal Press Shop

Job Purpose

1. To provide a constant presence on the shop floor in your area of responsibility or production line to ensure:

• Safety of the team.
• The customer is supplied good quality parts on time.
• Company rules and standards are being adhered to.

When rules and standards are not adhered to, record the reasons why and report to Production Supervisor when remedial action needs to take place.

2. To stand in for team members

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Safety Health and Environment

1.1. Ensure Team members are following the Safety Rules

1.2. Ensure Team members are following the 5S Rules

1.3. Responsible for clearing audit findings in your area of responsibility or

production line

2. Quality

2.1. Ensure dunnage label is completed correctly and signed

2.2. Conduct routine visual inspection to ensure team member is following work instructions and part quality is good

3. Stable Production

3.1. Shift start-up :

3.1.1. Complete shift startup checklist for your area of responsibility

3.1.2. Complete Attendance Register

3.1.3. Issue PPE to Team Members and ensure they meet uniform standards

3.1.4. Conduct Green Area meeting to a fixed agenda

3.2. Ensure production plan is adhered to

3.3. Ensure Work Instructions and Setting Instructions are available and being followed at all times

3.3. Ensure Team Members are meeting hourly score and escalate to Supervisor when scores are not met

3.4. Ensure Team Members are following Basic Good Working Practice

3.5. Stand in for Team Members when they are away from their workstation (does not include absenteeism)

3.6. Ensure all material, tools and dunnage is available to meet hourly scores

3.7. Follow the Escalation Policy and Procedure - stop- call- wait

3.8. Ensure that end of shift checklist is completed.

3.9. Complete end of shift report for your area of responsibility.

4. HRD

4.1. Responsible for training and development of Team Members

Qualifications

• DAC Trace/Team Leader training or Production Technology Learnership NQF 2 or 3

Experience

• 1 years’ Operator experience in the relevant department
• Trained setter in the relevant department

Job Requirements

• Ability to operate and set machines in the relevant department
• Completion of Toolroom orientation program
• Completion of Maintenance orientation program
• Completion of Quality department orientation program
• Ability to complete production reports
• Ability to complete production job cards
• 5 Why Problem solving
  • Knowledge and understanding of recording non-conforming parts and scrap
  • Computer literacy – MS Office
