Project Design Engineer, East Rand

SUMMARY:
The successful incumbent will have 5 years’ AutoCAD 2D/3D draughting experience together with 5 years’ experience as a mechanical draughtsman in an engineering environment.

Job Description:

Our client has an urgent requirement for a Project Design Engineer to join their team from January 2022 The successful incumbent will have 5 years’ AutoCAD 2D/3D draughting experience together with 5 years’ experience as a mechanical draughtsman in an engineering environment.

Position details:

The Project Design Engineer will be responsible to design from concept in accordance with design requests to produce manufacturing drawings to ISO standards including all applicable geometric tolerances.
Calculate and establish principal dimensions where such dimensions are critical in relation to other components, strength or form.
Liaise with sales department or client to ensure that the proposed design is in compliance with the request.
Liaise with possible suppliers of material, equipment and fabrication to ensure manufacturability of the design and that the specified equipment and material is available and of the required quality.
Ensure frequent design review meetings during design phase.
Able to work on your own and also able to work in a department with other Mechanical Designers.
Compile Bill of Materials (BOM), data pack and operating and maintained manuals.

Job Qualification & Experience:

AutoCAD 2D/3D draughting (5years).
At least 5 years’ experience as mechanical draughtsman in an engineering environment.
Excellent problem solving skills with ability demonstrate judgment and initiative.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and client relationship.
Creative and basic design skills.
Analytical to interact with people at all levels.
Able to start new employment immediately or within 1- 2 weeks.
Mechanical Qualification either a NDip. BTech. BEng or BSc.
Working experience gained as a Mechanical Design Engineer with design experience of machines or other products using AutoCAD Inventor, experience in designing drill rigs and lifting equipment an added advantage.
Project engineering/management experience managing multiple projects at the same time will be a great advantage.
Must be able to work under pressure and to very tight deadlines.
