On-site (Major Solar PV Project, South Africa)
Parys
POSITION INFO:
Role Purpose
The Project Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical Focus) is a critical technical role responsible for the on-site execution, quality control, and coordination of all core electrical (E) and mechanical (M) systems within the large-scale Solar PV power plant. The successful candidate will ensure all E&M construction and installation activities are completed safely, on schedule, and in strict adherence to engineering designs and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
Technical & Design Execution- Design Interpretation: Review, interpret, and apply complex electrical and mechanical design documentation, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), P&IDs, cable routing diagrams, and tracker assembly drawings.
- Technical Guidance: Provide necessary and timely technical guidance and clarifications to the construction team, foremen, and subcontractors to resolve site-related issues.
- Design Modification: Propose and execute modifications to design drawings and technical specifications as required by site conditions, focusing on construction efficiency and cost-effectiveness while strictly maintaining compliance and project integrity.
Installation & Commissioning Oversight- Construction Management: Manage and coordinate all daily on-site Electrical and Mechanical construction activities, driving productivity and progress.
- Major Component Oversight: Oversee the installation, connection, and pre-commissioning of all major E&M components, including inverters, transformers, substations, Medium Voltage (MV)/High Voltage (HV) equipment, and the solar tracking systems.
- Scope Management: Develop, implement, and track project schedules specifically for the Electrical/Mechanical scope of work to meet established project milestones.
Coordination & Quality Assurance- Interface Management: Liaise actively with procurement, logistics, and quality control teams to ensure the timely delivery, inspection, and installation of all E&M equipment and materials.
