SUMMARY:

Projects Engineer (Mechanical)

East Rand, Gauteng | Travel to Mine Sites Across Africa

Some engineers are happiest behind a desk.
Others would rather stand on a plant during installation, solve a problem in the field, and watch a project come to life from the first drawing to final commissioning.
If you're the kind of engineer who enjoys seeing steel become production, who can challenge a design when reality demands it, and who thrives in environments where no two projects are ever the same, then this opportunity could be for you.
A well-established engineering company serving the mining and minerals processing sector across Africa is looking for a Projects Engineer to join its growing team. Working on large-scale turnkey projects, you will play a critical role in taking equipment and plant installations from contract award through engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
This is an opportunity for a practical engineer who enjoys balancing technical excellence with real-world project delivery.

POSITION INFO:
What You'll Be Doing Reviewing designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure they meet project and site requirements. Working closely with the drawing office, project teams, suppliers, and clients to resolve technical challenges. Preparing technical scopes of work and evaluating supplier proposals. Monitoring fabrication progress and supporting quality and delivery requirements. Assisting with installation planning, site preparation, and contractor coordination. Supporting mechanical erection, commissioning, testing, and handover activities. Managing engineering documentation, drawing registers, as-built information, and technical records. Providing technical input on project changes, claims, costing, and risk management. Ensuring safe working practices are maintained across all project activities. What We're Looking For BEng, BSc (Engineering), or BTech in Mechanical Engineering. 3 to 8 years' experience within heavy industry. Exposure to mining, minerals processing, materials handling, processing plants, or capital equipment projects. Experience supporting installation, commissioning, or project execution activities. Ability to interpret and review fabrication drawings, general arrangements, and engineering documentation. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable working on site and travelling throughout Southern Africa and other African regions when required. A hands-on approach with a willingness to get involved wherever the project requires support. Advantageous Experience Crushing, milling, screening, or comminution environments. Mining processing plant projects. ECSA registration or progress toward professional registration. Turnkey project delivery experience. Why Consider This Opportunity? This role offers far more than traditional project engineering. You'll become part of a close-knit team where engineers are trusted to take ownership, make decisions, and contribute across multiple disciplines. You'll gain exposure to complex projects throughout Africa while working alongside experienced professionals who understand that engineering is about delivering solutions, not just producing drawings. If you are looking for a role where your work can be seen operating on site, where challenges are solved collaboratively, and where every project leaves a tangible impact, we'd like to hear from you. Please send your CV to: If you have not received a response within 14 days of your application, please consider your application unsuccessful.
