Quality Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client in Alberton is looking for a Quality Manager to lead quality control and Health & Safety initiatives within a stainless-steel manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality systems, driving ISO compliance, and promoting continuous improvement across all production processes.

POSITION INFO:

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures throughout the manufacturing process.
• Inspect and audit fabrication and welding processes to ensure compliance with product specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
• Investigate quality issues, analyze root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Develop and maintain quality documentation, including quality plans, inspection checklists, and traceability records.
• Lead internal audits and non-conformance investigations, ensuring timely follow-up and corrective action implementation.
• Manage and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and related standards (e.g. ISO 3834 for welding).
• Prepare the company for certification audits and liaise with external auditors and certification bodies.

• Train and mentor staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Promote a culture of accountability, quality awareness, and continuous improvement.
• Identify areas for process optimization and lead quality improvement projects across departments.

• Oversee the company’s Health & Safety system and ensure compliance with South African OHS regulations.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Maintain accurate H&S documentation and support digital system management.
• Drive safety initiatives and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Qualifications & Experience

• National Diploma or Degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a quality management or quality control role within a manufacturing environment (preferably stainless steel or metal fabrication).
• Proven experience with ISO 9001 implementation and auditing.
• Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication processes.
• Familiarity with stainless steel properties and manufacturing standards.
• Sound understanding of South African Health & Safety regulations and management systems.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
