Quality Manager

SUMMARY:
To manage Quality Systems and Processes to achieve plant specific objectives and meet customer expectations and to embed a culture of Quality excellence through facilitating increased ownership and responsibility within the organisation.

POSITION INFO:

Requirements:

• Degree or National Diploma Quality Management or similar discipline
• Minimum 8 years

• Automotive Quality Management experience is a must, non-negotiable

 Skills:

 MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Operating computer systems

• Interpret quality elements and enhance quality systems
• Conduct audits within a quality management system
• Solve problems, make decisions and implement solutions

 Knowledge:

 Demonstrate an understanding of ISO Standards

• Risk Assessment techniques.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the Integrity of Measurement and Control Philosophy of a process
• Explain and apply quality control procedures
• Understand and apply a problem-solving technique

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

• Provide input into the budget process
• Monitor performance against budget (expense controls, variances, etc.)
• Initiate requests for CAPEX/Disposal/Transfers
• Participate in the Audit process
• Adhere to Financial Policies and Procedures
• Protect company assets (working capital & fixed assets)
• Detect and prevent fraud
• Promote good Corporate Governance
• Approve and provide input into Quality and testing costs into Advanced Product Quality Planning 

Customer and Suppliers:

• Manage relationships with internal/external customers
• Communicate and liaise with internal customers, in a customer-specified language and format (Quality Notices, Alerts, etc.)
• Attend to and resolve customer queries
• Manage relationships with key suppliers

Quality Process:

Quality Strategy:

• Develop the Total Quality Strategic Plan and ensure implementation for the Plant
• Provide Strategic and Change Leadership to the Total Quality Team

Quality Management:

• Manage Quality at Source (Green Areas, Toolbox Talks, etc.)
• Manage requirements related to Quality and other standards
• Drive Quality Empowerment into Manufacturing
• Facilitate action teams and improvement program’s to continually improve on identified risks
• Compile Quality Topics for Quality Awareness Training
• Plan and set up testing programmes to investigate Quality issues and recommend changes

Quality Assurance:

• Maintain ISO accreditation
• Contribute to and improve on the operation of the Quality Assurance system and manage and implement the Quality Assurance system
• Develop and approve Quality Procedures, Work Instructions, etc.

Audits:

• Co-ordinate and facilitate customer audits of the product and product capability
• Conduct internal System audits and Process audits

Supply Quality Assurance (SQA):

• Specify Supplier Acceptable Quality Levels (AQLs) (Tolerances, Drawing requirements, Tooling, PPMs, etc.)
• Analyse Supplier Performance (Product Quality, Special Status, etc.) and make recommendations
• Conduct Supplier audits and notify Suppliers of non-conformances and initiate corrective actions
• Identify opportunities for Supplier Development
• Provide input to Procurement as to Supplier Quality Risk
• Support Procurement on Supplier Business Opportunity/Risk (SBO/SBR) initiatives

Quality Control:

• Establish and manage Critical Control Points in the Process
• Analyse the PPM''''''''''''''''s and defect trends and make recommendations

Information Management and Direction Focussing:

• Ensure data collection and analyses of data trends and focus areas for improvement drives
• Conduct Plant Management Reviews

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP):

• Review Quality Risks of APQP activities
• Ensure compliance to process and Customer Specifications and that customer specific requirements are met
• Approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) prior to Customer submission
• Provide input to the Contract Review Process

Continuous Improvement:

• Research and evaluate alternative Quality testing equipment
• Identify, suggest and implement corrective actions to improve Quality
• Develop an updated Continuous Improvement Plan
• Set-up and maintain the Supplier development programme

 SHE:

• Conduct continuous Risk Assessments in the workplace
• Conduct Planned Task Observations in the workplace
• Identify potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplace
• Address workplace hazards and risks
• Apply safety, health and environment practices and legal requirements when working on machines and equipment
