Rebates Accountant

SUMMARY:
Our client, a well-established company specialising in the FMCG retail sector, is looking for an experienced Rebates Accountant to join their team based in Kempton Park.

Position: Rebates Accountant
Location: Kempton Park
Salary: R40,000 CTC per month

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and administering customer rebates, ensuring accurate calculations, reconciliations and reporting, while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements: 5 - 7+ Years experience in finance\/ accounting 2+ years in an FMCG rebate or trade spend role Pastel Evolution experience is a must Own vehicle and valid driver's licence is non negotiable Duties: Calculate, record, and reconcile customer rebates, promotional discounts, and incentive schemes in line with contractual agreements. Ensure accurate monthly accruals for rebates and promotions are recorded in the general ledger. Track and validate rebate claims received from customers against agreed terms. Liaise with stakeholders to confirm promotional spend and rebate agreements. Prepare regular and ad-hoc rebate reports (e.g. actual vs. forecast, customer-level profitability, rebate liability). Support budgeting and forecasting processes related to trade spend and rebates. Provide insight and analysis to internal personnel on rebate efficiency and return on investment. Assist in month-end and year-end close processes related to rebates and trade spend. Maintain proper documentation for all rebate agreements and approvals. Support internal and external audits by providing relevant rebate documentation and reconciliations. Monitor and review internal controls related to rebates to identify and mitigate risks. Collaborate with sales and finance teams to align on rebate structures and spending. Coordinate with the IT or ERP team to improve rebate processing systems where necessary. Mentor and provide guidance to junior finance staff involved in rebate or trade spend processing.
