Regulatory and Development R&D Microbiologist - Crop Protection and Plant Nutrition - Agricultural Industry

SUMMARY:
A well-known Distribution and Manufacturing Crop Protection and Plant Nutrition Company requires the above to manage staff and drive the regulatory and development of nutritional products to enhance the growth of crops within the Agricultural Industry.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Master’s Degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry or related qualifications as well as advance knowledge of microbiological product development within the Agricultural sector is essential.
• SACNASP registration exposure as well as a knowledge of the regulatory environment of Act 36 of 1947 and registration requirements of products for use in agriculture would be an added benefit.
• Previous experience having worked as a Research and Development Microbiologist with in the Agricultural/Plant /Animal nutrition/Bio stimulants industry is essential.
• The successful candidate must be able to work independently and have a strong analytical ability to interpret results and to plan and execute experimental protocols, with attention to detail.
• The successful candidate must be organised, results driven, have good leadership, communication, and teamwork skills to guide Junior Staff.
• The successful candidate must be adaptable and show initiative to develop further and remain in the forefront of technology.
• Previous experience having the ability to conduct Research is essential.
• Having a strong interest in Applied Research is preferred.
• The successful candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of Laboratory Equipment, inventory control and of Microbiological techniques and methods.
• Must have the ability to compile and deliver technical reports.
• Must have good computer skills and statistical knowledge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Managing and driving all KPI’s ensuring that all projects are completed on time.
• New Product Development both on Crop Protection and Nutrition.
• Supervise Microbiological activities, including tests on samples, components, pollution and the study, isolation and conservation of cultures.
• Scale up of Microbiological cultures to industrial application.
• Preform and analysis on incoming ingredients/material and ensure sterility criteria.
• Maintain accurate records of testing activities, document various Microbiological Laboratory processes and prepare final reports.
• Plan and ensure suitable packaging material for industrial and market application, maintain orders and monitor inventory.
• Do Research on Microbiological uses in Agriculture and maintain knowledge of methods and applications.
• Develop and maintain validation of protocols for Microbiological products, ensuring compliance with environments and other regulations.
• Investigate and ensure GMP protocols.
