POSITION INFO:
Our client is a forward-thinking engineering and project management powerhouse, delivering large-scale infrastructure and industrial solutions across South Africa and beyond. They are seeking a Project Accountant to take ownership of the financial lifecycle of complex, multi-million-rand projects.

You’ll work alongside project managers and senior leadership, ensuring that every financial element, from budgeting to reporting, aligns seamlessly with operational delivery. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full financial function across multiple engineering projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking and margin analysis.
• Partner with project teams to develop, monitor, and report on budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
• Perform detailed variance analysis and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
• Oversee project billings, revenue recognition, WIP management, and cash flow forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and project-specific financial requirements.
• Prepare monthly project reports and present financial results to stakeholders and executives.
• Support internal and external audit processes and assist with continuous process improvements.

• BCom Accounting / Finance Degree (Honours or equivalent advantageous).
• 3–5 years’ experience in a project accounting role, ideally within engineering, construction, or project-based industries.
• Strong understanding of project costing, contract accounting, and revenue recognition principles.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar) highly beneficial.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; comfortable partnering with both technical and non-financial teams.
• A proactive, analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
