Boston’s Graduate Support Services is recruiting Boston graduates for our client, a world-class firm specialising in mergers and acquisitions.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Start Date: To be advised
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Job Type: Permanent, after a satisfactory probation period of 3 months.
Salary: Market-related, depending on qualifications and experience

Key job responsibilities and accountabilities

Gain an understanding of the company for sale, the benefits of acquisition to a targeted acquirer, and an understanding of the relevant industry sector.
Formulate a plan of action to identify potential acquirers and the data sources to use.
Create a list of targeted acquirers. Profile the targets: thoroughly research and qualify potential acquirers against agreed criteria—such as size and geographic location—within agreed time scales.
Confidently make information gathering calls to executives/decision makers to understand acquisition appetites and strategies.
Update the company’s database and client records accurately and with detailed notes.
Keep abreast of recent industry transactions and their key aspects, such as structure, pricing, timing.
Assist with supplementary research elements that include identifying new prospects and data sources.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Patience, resilience, tenacity, show attention to detail and be conscientious.
Be inquisitive and naturally think “What about …?”
Business acumen
Ability to recognize a match—and the benefits—between company for sale and a potential target
An excitement to learn from and contribute to a dynamic and interactive team.
Strong communication skills. Good listening skills, with quick comprehension of information gleaned
Computer literacy: MS Excel, MS Word. Salesforce experience would be a plus.
Ability to manipulate raw data (data cleansing)—requires logical thinking.
A basic understanding of global economic conditions, and an interest in M&A activity in the South African and international markets.
At least some commercial experience is necessary.
Preference will be given to Boston graduates.
