Job Purpose

To support strategy development pertaining to financial markets and the economy by conducting research analysis and presentation of data that create and build Company’s intellectual property in order to create a economic and financial framework for Company''s clients.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist business with decision making by delivering reports according to deadlines set for monthly and daily research.

• Align to business requirements by filling in gaps with in-depth research in Forex (Foreign Exchange) and economic issues.

• Manage costs of projects by negotiating fees and services with vendors.

• Provide diverse ideas for reports by working on content and data within specified business parameters.

• Deliver information; advice; reports and recommendations by engaging with respective stakeholders.

• Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Company’s Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc.).

• Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy (e.g.. Green Strategy).

• Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to the Company.

• Meet internal and external client needs by delivering quality and original research.

• Establish relationships with clients through constant engagement.

• Support internal stakeholders by preparing presentations for morning meetings and dealing with ad hoc queries and data requests

• Conduct research by collaborating within Global Markets and across the Group.

• Provide input to business units by conducting research on products; market; market trends; economic and environmental factors

• Assist in positioning Strategy Research Unit as valued business partner through proactive engagement and networking with internal and external stakeholders.

• Build and manage vendor relationships through engagement regarding business needs.

• Monitor performance by aligning own contribution to delivery of departmental plan against expected outcomes.

• Utilize resources by prioritizing available resources versus stakeholder and regulatory requirements while being cognizant of cost.

• Mitigate risk by managing research databases and meeting compliance and regulatory requirements through consultation with Compliance Division.

• Resolve work obstacles by managing on a case-by-case basis and early escalation where required.

• Contribute to Company’s Capital Research and Commentaries and policies by making recommendations on procedures and standards.

• Support the achievement of the business strategy; objectives and values by reviewing Company and Business Unit Plan and ensuring delivered systems; process; services and solutions are aligned. Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.

• Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified timeframe.

• Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.

• Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders'' businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

• Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

B.Comm Masters / Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) / Chartered Technical Analyst (CTA)

Essential Certifications

• CFA /CTA registration with Professional Body

Minimum Experience Level

3-5 years research experience in a financial institution. Must show ability to work under pressure and long hours a prerequisite.
